// Implicit auditory sensory memory and short-term memory for musical and verbal stimuli in children with cochlear implants

// This study compared auditory short-term memory (STM) and implicit auditory sensory memory in children with cochlear implants (CIs) and typically hearing (TH) peers. Using verbal and musical STM tasks, children with CIs showed lower performance, especially in musical STM, which was not solely due to perceptual difficulties. Bilateral CI users also struggled with detecting tone pattern regularities, unlike TH and unilateral CI children. The results reveal that auditory memory deficits in CI users extend beyond verbal memory, highlighting the importance of assessing musical memory and sensory processing in clinical settings.
