// Reading Abilities and Visual Evoked Potentials in Hearing-Impaired Children: A Comparative Study of Cochlear Implant and Hearing Aid Users
// This study compared reading comprehension, visual evoked potentials (VEP), and saccadic eye movements among hearing aid users, cochlear implant users, and normal hearing individuals. Cochlear implant users showed significantly poorer reading comprehension than the other groups, while VEP amplitudes were higher without hearing devices in both hearing aid and cochlear implant users. No clear link was found between reading comprehension and VEP or saccadic measures. The results suggest that sensory processing and reading ability involve different mechanisms, and increased VEP without hearing devices may reflect visual compensation during auditory deprivation.
