// Effects of Forward Head Posture on Submental Muscle Activations During Swallowing Tasks, Dysphagia Limit, and Tongue Pressure Force in Healthy Volunteers

// This study examined the impact of Forward Head Posture (FHP) on swallowing-related muscle activation, dysphagia limit, and tongue pressure in 54 healthy volunteers. Participants were divided into FHP and normal posture groups, and submental muscle activation was measured using surface electromyography during normal and effortful swallows. Results showed that FHP individuals had lower muscle activation during effortful swallowing but no differences during normal swallowing, dysphagia limit, or tongue pressure compared to those with normal posture. The findings suggest that proper head and neck posture enhances muscle activation in swallowing, highlighting the importance of posture in swallowing rehabilitation.
