// This study examined how Mandarin-learning preschoolers with cochlear implants (CIs) identify emotions when semantic and prosodic cues conflict. Using a forced-choice task with happy or sad sentences, children with CIs and typical hearing (TH) both preferred prosody over semantics in judging emotions. The results showed no significant difference between groups, indicating CI children use prosody-dominant strategies similar to TH peers despite reduced auditory input quality. The findings suggest that CI children adaptively use available prosodic cues and support incorporating prosody training in rehabilitation.
