// Interactive Effects of Executive Function and Language Ability on Children's Cross-Situational Word Learning
// This study investigated how executive function (EF) skills predict cross-situational word learning (CSWL) in children and whether this relationship varies by language ability, including in those with developmental language disorder (DLD). Fifty children completed CSWL and EF tasks measuring shifting, inhibitory control, and monitoring. Results showed that shifting and monitoring skills improved word learning only in children with average-to-high language skills, while EF had little impact in children with weaker language, including DLD. The study concludes that CSWL depends on the interaction between EF and language ability, highlighting the need for language acquisition models to consider EF-language dynamics.
