// This study compared the use of five categories of internal state verbs (ISVs) in fictional and personal narratives by German-speaking preschoolers. Twenty-one children produced narratives elicited by established tools, and their ISV use was analyzed using Bayesian regression models. Results showed no overall difference in ISV use by narrative genre, but specific ISV categories varied: experiential and motivational verbs appeared more in fictional narratives, while emotional and cognitive verbs were more frequent in personal narratives. These findings aid clinicians in choosing appropriate narrative assessments for evaluating children's use of ISVs.
