// This study evaluated long-term speech recognition outcomes in 494 children with cochlear implants, focusing on age at implantation and other factors. Earlier implantation, especially before 12 months, led to significantly better speech recognition scores over 10 years. Electrode type and prior hearing aid use also influenced outcomes, but age at implantation was the strongest independent predictor. The findings highlight that early implantation and device factors together shape long-term auditory development in children.
