// This study investigated adrenergic receptor expression in vestibular end organs of Meniere disease (MD) patients. Using RNA in situ hybridization and immunofluorescence on surgical tissues, the researchers found increased α1a-adrenergic receptor expression in sensory hair cells of MD patients compared to controls. No difference was observed in β2-adrenergic receptor expression. These findings suggest a molecular basis for sympathetic hyperactivity in MD, potentially informing future treatments.
