// This study examined factors influencing consumers' choice between provider-driven and OTC hearing aid delivery among U.S. adults aged 50+ with no hearing aid experience. Using surveys and statistical analyses, it identified insurance coverage and stage in hearing health care journey as key predictors, and classified customers into three archetypes: Empowered Evaluator, Passive Traditionalist, and Disengaged Skeptic. Although 39% were comfortable purchasing OTC aids, 84% preferred provider-driven care. The findings suggest that care preferences are shaped by coverage, journey stage, and customer type, despite increasing acceptance of OTC options.
