// Parental awareness of childhood hearing loss, risk factors and communication milestones following newborn hearing screening
// This study surveyed Swedish parents of children under 2 to assess their awareness of childhood hearing loss and related factors. Most parents understood hearing loss affects language but only about half recalled receiving newborn screening information. Many parents did not link lack of response to possible hearing loss, suggesting low sensitivity of parental concern. The findings highlight inconsistent information delivery during newborn screening and a gap between knowledge and practical recognition of hearing loss.
