// This study investigated how elicitation method (tell vs. retell) and language (Mandarin vs. English) affect narrative skills in Mandarin-English bilingual children. Using narrative samples from 79 children, researchers found that retells improved macrostructure skills more than tells, with Mandarin showing stronger story structure than English. Microstructure improvements from retell were evident in English but limited in Mandarin, likely due to linguistic differences. These findings help clinicians select appropriate narrative tasks and interpret bilingual children's language performance.
