// This study examined how different care types and children's temperament affect vocabulary development in 211 Turkish children in social care over time. Vocabulary skills improved overall, but longer time in care slowed receptive vocabulary growth, while day care attendance boosted expressive vocabulary. Children in foster care showed faster vocabulary gains than those in institutions. Temperament, specifically perceptual sensitivity, influenced vocabulary growth differently depending on care type, highlighting the combined impact of environment and individual traits on language development.
