Researchers assessed 144 adults (72 with misophonia, 72 controls) using self-report measures. They found misophonia severity linked to most EMSs, personality traits like negative affectivity, and symptoms of depression and anxiety, with Entitlement and Emotional Inhibition EMSs as key predictors. EMSs explained additional variance beyond personality traits, suggesting that targeting EMSs could improve interventions for misophonia by addressing underlying cognitive-emotional processes.
