// This study examined swallowing function and muscle pathology in a rat model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Using electromyography and histopathological analysis, researchers found DMD rats had reduced muscle fiber size, increased fibrosis, impaired swallowing muscle activity, and decreased swallowing frequency. These changes corresponded with weight loss and reduced food intake, mirroring DMD patient symptoms. The findings support using DMD rats for studying dysphagia and developing related treatments.
