// Auditory Differences in Occupationally Noise-Exposed Workers With Normal Conventional Audiograms: A Multi-Measure Surveillance Approach
// This study evaluated auditory tests in noise-exposed young adults with normal audiograms using a battery including extended high-frequency audiometry, otoacoustic emissions, acoustic reflex thresholds (ARTs), auditory brainstem responses, and speech-in-noise tests. Noise-exposed individuals showed elevated ARTs, poorer extended high-frequency thresholds, and lower otoacoustic emissions, but no differences in brainstem responses. Speech-in-noise performance was poorer in noise-exposed participants and was related to conventional audiometric thresholds and noise exposure. The results suggest that combining cochlear measures, ARTs, and speech-in-noise tests offers valuable hearing surveillance beyond standard audiograms.
