// Cortical speech-in-noise processing reflects subcortical syllable encoding and lexical attention
// This study investigated how subcortical speech encoding and lexical attention influence cortical representation of speech in noise, measured by neural signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Results showed neural SNR correlated with behavioral speech-in-noise performance, with both sensory encoding and top-down attention independently predicting neural SNR. Together, these factors explained individual differences in speech-in-noise perception. The findings suggest neural SNR reflects combined sensory and attentional processes critical for understanding speech in noisy environments.
