// Goal-setting in audiology: where practice aligns with, or falls short of, best practice
// This study investigated how clinical goal-setting is applied in routine audiological practice and its alignment with person-centred approaches. Using interviews, observations, and a survey of 97 hearing health professionals across 16 countries, it found that while goal-setting is widely supported, clients are often not fully engaged and goals lack specificity or ongoing focus. Barriers include communication challenges, time constraints, and limited use of structured tools. The study concludes that enhancing client involvement, clearer goals, strategic planning, and regular review could improve goal-setting’s effectiveness in audiology.
