// This study compared audiologic features of service members and veterans with tinnitus alone (TO) versus those with tinnitus and PTSD (T&P), alongside healthy controls. Audiologic tests showed no significant hearing threshold differences between TO and T&P groups, but T&P individuals reported greater tinnitus-related distress, annoyance, and less acceptance. Findings indicate PTSD exacerbates tinnitus distress and reduces tolerance, suggesting audiology clinics should screen for PTSD and coordinate behavioral health referrals. Future research should explore optimal treatment sequences for patients with both conditions.
