// Listening-Related Fatigue in Adolescents With Prelingual Deafness and Device Experience
// This study assessed listening-related fatigue in adolescents with early-onset hearing loss using hearing devices. Using self- and parent-reported Vanderbilt Fatigue Scale scores from 271 adolescents, 24.5-50.5% of hearing aid and cochlear implant users showed clinically significant fatigue, while bone conduction users did not. Fatigue was more linked to communication difficulties and mental health symptoms than to audiological factors like device type or hearing level. The findings suggest that addressing communication and well-being is key to managing fatigue in this population despite long-term device use.
