// This study examined the link between nutritional status and postoperative outcomes in pediatric otolaryngology using data from 58,723 patients. Underweight BMI alone was not consistently linked to complications after adjustment, though it was associated with cardiopulmonary issues. Nutritional support during surgery was strongly associated with higher risk of cardiopulmonary complications, readmission, and reoperation. Thus, nutritional support is a more reliable marker of perioperative risk than underweight BMI.
