// This study investigated how altered speaking rates and sentence context affect comprehension and memory of degraded speech in cochlear implant users and normal-hearing adults. Participants completed tasks with sentences at different speeds and contexts, with normal hearing simulated to mimic cochlear implants. Results showed slower speech improved comprehension and recognition, especially with low-context sentences, while cochlear implant users and older adults had slower, less accurate responses. The findings suggest that slower speaking rates aid processing of degraded speech and should be considered in communication strategies.
