// This study examined facial emotion recognition (ER) in children with developmental language disorder (DLD) using emotion matching and labeling tasks. Children with DLD showed impairments in emotion labeling, which involves advanced linguistic processing, but not in emotion matching, which relies on perceptual processing. Results suggest that ER difficulties in DLD are linked to language and verbal theory of mind rather than basic emotion perception. The findings highlight specific linguistic-level limitations in ER for children with DLD.
