// Dissociable Effects of Dysarthria Etiology and Severity on the Minimally Detectable Change of Speech Intelligibility
// This study calculated minimally detectable changes (MDCs) in speech intelligibility across five dysarthria etiologies and four severity levels. Using speech samples from 200 speakers and transcriptions from 30 listeners, the research found that speech severity significantly predicted MDCs, while dysarthria etiology did not. The results highlight that greater speech impairment corresponds to higher MDCs. These findings emphasize the importance of considering speech severity when interpreting changes in patient speech outcomes.
