// This study compared listener preferences for environmental sounds processed by OTC and premium prescription hearing aids in young adults with normal hearing. Using a double-blind design, participants rated processed recordings from both device types across speech in noise, nonspeech sounds, and music. Results showed a general preference for premium devices, especially for speech in noise and nonspeech sounds, with preferences varying by listening context and acoustic factors. The findings emphasize the complex nature of sound quality perception and the need to tailor hearing aid advice to individual listening situations.
