// Neurocognitive deficits in children with polysomnographically confirmed obstructive sleep apnea: A systematic review and meta-analysis
// This study systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed neurocognitive deficits in school-aged children with polysomnography-confirmed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) compared to non-snoring controls. Using six studies totaling 436 children, the pooled analysis showed a moderate cognitive deficit (Hedges' g = 0.67) in children with OSA. Deficits affected executive function, working memory, intelligence, and phonological processing. The findings support routine neurocognitive screening and early intervention in children diagnosed with OSA.
