// Acute mastoiditis: A 10-year retrospective study at a tertiary care center
// This retrospective study analyzed pediatric acute mastoiditis (AM) cases before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The incidence and severity of AM increased during the pandemic/post-COVID period, with more complications and surgical interventions observed. Streptococcus pneumoniae was the main pathogen, appearing more frequently post-COVID, alongside notable antimicrobial resistance. The findings highlight the need for ongoing pathogen surveillance and early treatment to reduce AM complications.
