// Auditory-Somatosensory Influences on Vocal Motor Control in Primary Muscle Tension Dysphonia

// This study investigated how auditory and somatosensory feedback affect vocal motor control in people with primary muscle tension dysphonia (pMTD) versus controls. Using altered auditory feedback and somatosensory disruption via nebulized lidocaine, the researchers measured vocal adaptation across different phases. They found that unlike controls, individuals with pMTD showed impaired adaptation and greater variability, but reducing somatosensory input improved their vocal adaptation. These results suggest that abnormal somatosensory processing contributes to vocal instability in pMTD and that targeting sensory feedback may have therapeutic potential.
