// Influence of Caregiver Input and Dyadic Arrangement on Naturalistic Communication Sampling for Children With Neurogenetic Syndromes
// This study investigated how caregiver language input, positioning, and proximity affect social communication measures from remote caregiver-child interactions in children with neurogenetic syndromes (NGS) and controls. Using 10-minute home play sessions coded with the Communication Complexity Scale and language analysis, they found caregiver language input predicted higher social communication scores only in non-NGS children, but this effect disappeared when controlling for developmental age. Positioning and proximity generally did not impact scores, except for children with primarily pre-intentional communication skills, who showed better scores when positioned at right angles or facing caregivers. The study concludes that remote measures of social communication are generally reliable across dyadic variations but should consider developmental age and optimal positioning for certain children.
