// Auditory Stimuli Influence on Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex Gains
// This study investigated how auditory stimuli affect the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) gain using a video head impulse test with controlled sounds. Forty adults underwent tests in silence and with various sounds presented at two intensity levels, including their individualized vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) threshold. Results showed that high-intensity sounds, particularly tone bursts and white noise, reduced VOR gain in the lateral and anterior canals, while lower-level sounds had no effect and the posterior canal was unaffected. The findings suggest auditory input modulates VOR mainly via the superior vestibular nerve, and the auditory-vHIT method could aid clinical vestibular assessments.
