// This study assessed older adults' understanding of audiology-related medical jargon in letters from NHS audiology clinics. Using an online survey, 175 participants over age 50 defined common jargon terms from these letters. Results showed that most terms were poorly understood, with 25% of terms misunderstood by over 75% of participants, regardless of age, prior audiology experience, or education. The study concludes that audiology letters should avoid jargon or clearly explain its meaning to improve comprehension among older adults.
