// This study evaluated auditory emotion recognition in children with bilateral cochlear implants (CIs) using vocal and musical stimuli and compared their performance to normal-hearing peers. The research involved 29 children with CIs and 29 normal-hearing children aged 6-12, assessing recognition of five emotions and speech perception scores. Results showed that children with CIs recognized happiness best and had correlated performance across vocal and musical emotions, with word recognition scores positively linked to emotion recognition. The findings suggest that auditory emotion and speech perception share underlying auditory processing mechanisms in children with CIs.
