// This study examined subjective listening effort in adult cochlear implant (CI) users using the Listening Effort Questionnaire (LEQ), originally designed for hearing aid users. Data from 112 CI users showed that listening effort was highest in low sound quality situations and lowest in quiet situations with lipreading, with significant differences across conditions. Speech comprehension in noise correlated with listening effort in noisy environments, and users with single-sided deafness reported less effort in some situations than bilateral or bimodal users. The LEQ was found effective for measuring listening effort in adult CI users' daily life.
