// This study examines how natural hazards affect people using hearing devices through an online survey of 124 deaf or hard-of-hearing adults in Australia. Results show many rely heavily on hearing devices, with significant communication loss and emergency call difficulties if devices fail or lose power. The findings highlight the need for emergency preparedness plans that address device dependence and resilience. The study urges manufacturers and professionals to consider assistive device support in disaster planning and response.
