// Cochlear Place Specificity of the Auditory Brainstem Response to Narrowband Chirp Versus 2-1-2 Stimuli: High-Pass Noise/Derived Responses
// This study compared the cochlear place specificity of ABRs elicited by narrowband chirps and standard 2-1-2 tone stimuli using high-pass noise masking in 24 normal-hearing adults. Although chirps produced substantially larger wave V amplitudes, their responses reflected broader cochlear regions, extending up to one octave from the stimulus frequency. In contrast, 2-1-2 tones primarily activated regions within approximately ±0.5 octaves, indicating better frequency specificity. Further research is needed to determine whether chirp bandwidth causes threshold errors in hearing loss.
