// The study explored how audiologists choose hearing-aid technology, with emphasis on patients' auditory lifestyles. Researchers conducted semistructured interviews with 10 clinical audiologists and performed iterative inductive qualitative content analysis. They identified 18 codes condensed into four themes (patient factors including auditory lifestyle, audiologist factors, device characteristics, affordability) and two practice patterns: tailor technology to patient characteristics or recommend premium devices for all. The authors conclude auditory lifestyle is one of multiple influences, both practice patterns have mixed support, and outcome research is needed to inform evidence-based guidelines.
