// Effects of Traditional and Virtual Reality-Based Vestibular Rehabilitation on Balance and Visual-Motor Skills in Children With Specific Learning Disorders: A Randomized Controlled Trial

// This randomized controlled study evaluated whether children with specific learning disorders (SLD) have vestibular/balance deficits and whether traditional versus virtual-reality (VR) vestibular rehabilitation improves outcomes; 63 children (42 SLD, 21 controls) received baseline SOT/AT/LOS and VNG testing, and SLD participants were randomized to twice-weekly traditional or VR rehab for 8 weeks with pre/post MOYA and BGT assessments. At baseline, children with SLD showed significantly poorer balance (SOT, AT, LOS) but similar VNG results versus controls. After rehabilitation, both groups improved on balance measures and MOYA/BGT scores, with the VR group showing greater gains on some vestibular balance scores and leftward saccadic velocity. Vestibular rehabilitation — especially VR-assisted programs — may be a useful complementary intervention for children with SLD, though longer-term studies are needed.
