// Effect of Stimulus Rate on Click and CE-Chirp-Evoked Auditory Brainstem Responses in Infants and Adults

// This study tested how click versus CE-Chirp stimuli and three stimulus rates (23.3, 53.3, 83.3/s) affect auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) in 37 infant ears and 39 young adults using 70 dB nHL, standard clinical measures, and automated time–frequency feature engineering. Across rates, Peak I latencies were similar in infants and adults, while Peaks III and V differed; clicks produced earlier latencies and CE-Chirps produced larger amplitudes. Absolute latencies changed with increasing rate, and ABR time–frequency features varied with rate and with the feature-extraction method. Click-rate effects matched prior literature but CE-Chirp results did not, so clinicians and researchers should account for stimulus type and rate when interpreting ABRs.
