// Health-Related Quality-of-Life Profiles in Adults With Tinnitus
// This study examined how tinnitus affects multiple health-related quality-of-life domains using the EQ-5D-5L in a cross-sectional sample of 428 adults from baseline data of internet-based CBT trials. Most participants reported no problems with mobility, self-care, or usual activities, but 33% reported pain/discomfort and 40% reported anxiety/depression. Higher tinnitus severity was linked to worse outcomes across all EQ-5D-5L dimensions — a 10-point rise in TFI score was associated with 53% and 51% greater odds of worse usual activities and anxiety/depression, respectively, and those with a fully healthy profile had substantially lower TFI scores (mean 39.0 vs 55.3). Cluster analysis identified a smaller high-burden subgroup with greater tinnitus severity, psychological and sleep distress, supporting the need for integrated biopsychosocial management.
