// Preliminary Evidence for the Effects of Bilingual ECoLoGiC Treatment for People With Aphasia
// This study tested a bilingual version of Expanding Communication and Language Opportunities Generated in Conversation Treatment (ECoLoGiC‑Tx) for people with aphasia, aiming to improve formal language scores, functional communication, and patient/family‑reported outcomes. Two bilingual participants received personalized, context‑sensitive therapy that allowed dual‑language use (code‑switching, translanguaging, translation) in a pretest/posttest design with a 6‑week follow‑up. Both participants showed generalized gains across formal measures, functional communication, and self/family reports that largely persisted at 6 weeks, with improvements across languages and modalities and transfer to untargeted tasks, though self‑report changes varied. These preliminary results support bilingual ECoLoGiC‑Tx as a promising approach and justify larger, more diverse studies including conversation‑level outcomes.
