// They developed the Multiparty Communication Questionnaire (MCQ) to measure multiparty communication difficulties after traumatic brain injury and to evaluate its psychometric properties. The MCQ was given to 61 individuals with TBI and 61 matched noninjured controls and analyzed with exploratory factor analysis, classical test theory, and item response theory, with a subset retested for reliability. Individuals with TBI reported significantly more multiparty communication problems than controls (39% said their injury reduced their opportunities), and the MCQ showed good internal consistency, excellent reliability, and acceptable construct validity, though three items need revision. The authors conclude the MCQ is a promising tool for clinical assessment, counseling, intervention planning, and research outcomes, with partner and clinician versions planned.
