// This scoping review mapped research on characteristics and assessment practices of developmental language disorder (DLD) in adults. The authors searched three international databases from 1990 onward and synthesized 53 peer‑reviewed studies using numeric and thematic analyses. Findings show DLD persists into adulthood and is linked to lasting language, cognitive, and biological difficulties often recognizable from childhood, but the literature is sparse, heterogeneous, and geographically limited. The review concludes there is a clear need for more, higher‑quality research on adult DLD and its assessment.
