// Honoring Children's Communication Rights: Listening to the Perspectives of Children Who Stutter Using Drawings, Self-Report Measures, and Interviews

// This study examined whether drawings with interviews can reveal the perspectives of 16 children who stutter (ages 4;0–6;10) by collecting 62 drawings, interviews, and self-report measures and analyzing drawings for development and focal points alongside reflexive thematic analysis of transcripts. Most children reported being happy with their talking and little/no difficulty; analyses identified six drawing focal points (facial expressions, body features, talking/listening, colors, conversation partners, sense of self) and four interview themes (family, friendship, interests, self-perceived competence), with stuttering not a prominent focus. The method proved suitable for eliciting varied, child-centered perspectives and supports holistic, person-centered practice in speech-language pathology.
