// Comparison of diadochokinesis in Kannada-speaking adults who do and do not stutter

// The study compared oral and laryngeal diadochokinetic rates in 35 adults who stutter and 35 matched controls and tested real-word versus non-word oral tasks using Praat measurements. Adults who stutter showed significantly different monosyllabic oral and laryngeal rates but no group differences for bi- and tri-syllabic rates or for consonant-vowel and inter-syllabic durations; additionally, stutterers produced bi-syllabic real words faster than non-words. The authors conclude clinicians should use a dual diadochokinetic protocol (oral and laryngeal) that includes both real-word and non-word oral tasks.
