// Divergent neural dynamics of multidimensional semantic access for concrete and abstract words
// They examined how different semantic dimensions unfold over time. Using time-resolved encoding models on ECoG data from 9 people listening to stories, they decomposed neural responses into six dimensions (vision, motor, space, time, socialness, emotion). While all dimensions together showed a common peak around 350 ms, separating concrete and abstract words revealed a dissociation: for concrete words sensorimotor dimensions peaked earlier than non-sensorimotor ones, whereas for abstract words the social dimension peaked early (~225 ms). The results show the brain dynamically prioritizes different semantic dimensions depending on concept type.
