// This study examined how multidisciplinary teams make AAC and communication decisions for children who are DeafPlus. Researchers analyzed transcripts from three professional focus groups using qualitative methods. They found unclear and overlapping roles, conflicting views on communication modalities, gatekeeping and power dynamics, fragmented processes, and system constraints that together drive inconsistent implementation and reduced access. The authors conclude that both interpersonal dynamics and institutional structures shape decisions and offer a conceptual roadmap to improve transparency, alignment, and effectiveness of team-based AAC planning.
