// This study examined smell and taste function in children with connective tissue diseases versus age-matched healthy controls. Olfaction was assessed with Sniffin' Sticks/Sniffin' Kids and taste with the ODOFIN Taste Test. Patients had significantly lower odor identification and total olfactory scores (and lower Sniffin' Kids scores), while taste scores trended lower but were not statistically significant. The authors conclude pediatric connective tissue diseases are associated with impaired olfaction and warrant multidisciplinary evaluation.
